When I was a kid, I was afraid of drowning
I was afraid that I would run out of air
I’d dream at night about my submarine
Crashing out in the deep water somewhere

I lived my life next to the ocean deep
I traveled overseas in boats
I swam across the channel to the far off islands
And I hung out by the coast

So why hang out with the grim reaper
Why live with worry nipping at your heels,
There is something mesmerizing in the face of one’s fear
That makes this life a little more real.

I’d push off in my kayak towards a big fog bank
Relying on my compass to get through
If my calculations were a little bit off
I’d be in big trouble , I’d be screwed

So now I travel solo on the deep blue sea
I paddle through the crashing waves
Facing present danger makes me feel alive
Facing my fears is how I misbehave.
